Dili, 13 July 2026 – Students from CEBC and St. António Teulale Secondary School, Baucau-Vila, together with their teachers, successfully completed their final preparation session at the Central Science and Mathematics Practice Center, located at Escola 30 de Agosto, Comoro, Dili, ahead of their participation in the Science Technology Innovation Creativity Conference (STICK) 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The preparation session focused on strengthening the students’ readiness to present innovative projects that address real-world challenges faced by their communities and the nation. Working collaboratively, the students refined their project ideas, enhanced their scientific approaches, and explored practical solutions through innovation and creativity.
During the training, participants also received guidance from teachers and facilitators on effective presentation techniques, public speaking, and responding confidently to questions from judges and international audiences. In addition, mentors from St. António Teulale Secondary School and the Science Division of the Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (CN-UNESCO) supported the students in integrating real-world concepts with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to further strengthen the quality and relevance of their projects.
The preparation serves as an important step in developing students’ competencies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Beyond technical knowledge, the activity encourages critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, research skills, and problem-solving—essential competencies for young innovators in the 21st century.
The Timor-Leste delegation is scheduled to depart for Kuala Lumpur on 15 July 2026 to participate in STICK 2026, an international conference that brings together students, researchers, educators, and innovators from around the world. The event provides a valuable platform for young Timorese to showcase their talents, exchange ideas, and represent Timor-Leste with pride on the international stage.
The Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (CN-UNESCO) extends its best wishes to the students and teachers participating in STICK 2026. Their dedication and commitment reflect the country’s growing investment in science, technology, innovation, and creativity, while inspiring more young people to contribute to sustainable development through education and innovation.
CN-UNESCO remains committed to supporting initiatives that empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to become future leaders and innovators for Timor-Leste.
