July 2026 – The Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (CN-UNESCO), through the BRIDGE Timor-Leste Project, with support from the Korea National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU), has officially launched the Enuma School Program in three Community Learning Schools (Sekolah Komunitária de Aprendizagem – SKA) across Timor-Leste. This initiative reflects CN-UNESCO’s commitment to promoting inclusive, innovative, and quality digital education, particularly for learners in remote communities.

The program was officially launched at the following Community Learning Schools:

  • SKA Valor Lautém, Lautém Municipality – 30 June 2026
  • SKA Laclubar Leo-Telu, Manatuto Municipality – 6 July 2026
  • SKA Naroman Leno Hatulia, Ermera Municipality – 10 July 2026

The Enuma School Program introduces an innovative digital learning platform that provides students and community learners—especially out-of-school children and active learners—with opportunities to strengthen their English language and basic mathematics skills. Through a personalized learning system, each learner can study at their own pace and according to their individual learning level using interactive content delivered through tablets.

The launch events were attended by Municipal Directors of Education, local authorities, school leaders and teachers from each SKA, the Coordinator of the Education Division of CN-UNESCO and her team, facilitators, and members of the local communities. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the successful and sustainable implementation of the program at the local level.

As part of the program rollout, CN-UNESCO distributed tablets to the three Community Learning Schools to support the implementation of Enuma classrooms and provide learners with access to the digital learning platform. Following the distribution, students completed a Placement Test to assess their initial English proficiency. The assessment results will enable the Enuma platform to automatically personalize learning content based on each learner’s abilities and educational needs.

The implementation of the Enuma School Program through the BRIDGE Timor-Leste Project demonstrates CN-UNESCO’s continued commitment to expanding access to quality education through digital innovation. By integrating educational technology into community learning, the program aims to strengthen digital literacy, improve foundational English and mathematics competencies, and promote lifelong learning opportunities, particularly for learners in underserved and remote areas of Timor-Leste.

CN-UNESCO expresses its sincere appreciation to the Korea National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU), implementation partners, local authorities, teachers, and community members for their invaluable support in making this initiative possible. Their collaboration and shared commitment are essential to ensuring the program’s long-term success and sustainability.

Through this initiative, CN-UNESCO hopes that the Enum
