The Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (TLNCU) worked together with the Ministry of Education Directorate of Recurrent Education through the Bridge Project to conduct training for teachers and also involved coordinators from Community Learning Centers (SKA) in six municipalities such as Ermera, Ainaro, Covalima, Viqueque, Baucau, and Oecusse.
This training is about the literacy program. This activity was held during (4) days 21-24 October 2024 at the lab 30 August Dili and received funding from the Government of Korea through the Korea National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU).
Literacy is a sub-program of the Ministry of Education directorate of recurrent education that focuses on the illiterate, such as our elderly mothers, the elderly who do not know how to read and write, and those who have not finished their studies.
The training was attended by 2 speakers from the (ME) Directorate of Recurrent Education who shared learning experiences with teachers on how to teach students well for literacy programs and coordinators on how to evaluate and coordinate.
The objective of this training is to increase the knowledge of teachers about literacy and to reduce the literacy rate and how to return to (SKA). Each must invite parents and friends who do not know how to read and write to be able to come to learn in (SKA) to reduce the literacy rate in Timor-Leste.
