RAEOA, 15 October 2024 Acting Prime Minister, Eng. Mariano Sabino Assanami, together with the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture, accompanied by authorities from NTT, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste, launched the Quadrennial Periodic Report, QPR 2024, on the Protection and Promotion of Diversity of Cultural Expression and the Book: Strengthening Cultural Expressions: and Recognition Alliance Building Strategies, in the context of the 2024 Frontier Festival, at Hotel Oeupu RAEO.

The launch of the two reports was held at a seminar entitled “Reconciliation and the Future: The Way to Sustainability, Friendship, and Peace” organized by the Centro Nacional Chega, I.P., and the Secretariat of State for Arts and Culture.

In the introduction to the launch of the QPR book, the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture, Mr. Jorge Soares Cristóvão, said, “QPR 2024 is a report that the state of Timor-Leste submits to UNESCO every 4 years to report on policies and measures for the Protection and Promotion of Diversity of Cultural Expression.” The government member also stressed that “the Border Festival is a great achievement for the government of Timor-Leste in the implementation of the 2005 UNESC0 Convention. This event creates space for the mobility of artists and cultural professionals from Indonesia and Timor-Leste and also promotes Timor-Leste’s creative industry.

Participating in the launch of the book were participants from Indonesia and Timor-Leste who will take part in the 2024 Border Festival, such as academics, activists, artists, students, and communities.
