INTRODUCTION

The Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (TLNCU) is an autonomous figure that becomes a partner with the government of Timor-Leste. It was established to implement UNESCO programs in Timor-Leste, such as education, science, culture, and communication, and works in partnership with relevant ministries, national and international NGOs, and other key stakeholders.

The Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (TLNCU) was established on 23 April 2009. But its legal base has just been approved in the Council of Ministers based on the decree law no. 35/2023, 31 August 2023, in the IX government constitutional structurally TLNCU under the Ministry of Education.

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. It is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that promotes international collaboration in education, science, culture, and communication to foster peace and sustainable development.
