The Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (TLNCU) held the inauguration of three (3) Community Learning Centers in the administrative post of Lospalos, Lautem Municipality.
TLNCU through the Bridge Project continues the inauguration of three (3) Community Learning Centers, such as SKA Valor (Vision and Action Lautem Oan Rasik), SKA Creative Baucau, and SKA Roman ba Futuru Ainaro, which held the inauguration ceremony concentrated in one place in SKA Valor Lautem. These SKAs were recognized with the signing of the plaque by Excellency the Minister of Education, Dra. Dulce de Jesus Soares.
In the inauguration speech via message from the Secretary General of Korea National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU), Mr. Han, Kyung Koo (Ph.D.), Excellency representatives from Ainaro, Baucau, and Lospalos, members of TLNCU, guests, and participants in SKA It is a great honor for me to deliver my speech as Secretary General (KNCU), The UNESCO Korea National Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea has the great privilege of supporting Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste through the Brigde program, this initiative is part of UNESCO’s commitment to ensure quality, inclusive and equitable education for all, paving the way for lifelong learning opportunities for all , which can empower individuals and communities. Since the beginning of the Bridge program, we have provided more than US$1 million to Timor-Leste. The Bridge Program is an important initiative to support non-formal education in partner countries, offering opportunities to those who have not yet received access and formal education. The inauguration of three (3) SKAs presents another significant success in this journey, these centers will play a role in expanding education, fostering local development and creating hope in communities. This success would not have been possible without the strong education of the Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste and the active participation of local communities. I express my gratitude to everyone it makes this achievement a reality. The Korean National Commission for UNESCO remains committed to working with you to further advance education and development in Timor-Leste. It is hoped that today’s inauguration ceremony is the beginning of a brighter future for these communities and for the whole of Timor-Leste. financial to (TLNCU) work together with the Ministry of Education Directorate of Recurrent Education to establish the Center. there is also funding support to provide computers from the Korean Seventeen labs group which supported 11 units of computers, 1 unit of projectors and 1 song system to SKA Valor Lautem.
The Community Learning Center will facilitate communities that need to learn about programs such as literacy, equity, and life skills. For our elderly and young people who do not know how to read and write, SKA will facilitate learning, and those who do not finish school also have the opportunity to learn. SKA will also facilitate community access to courses such as Korean, English, Portuguese, and computers.
The objective of the inauguration is to be recognized by Excellency the Minister of Education for SKA—Valor Lautem, SKA—Krativu Baucau, and SKA—Roman ba Futuru Ainaro, whose house construction has been completed, so that it can continue to be used for learning in the program that has been established in SKA and can also help the communities that have initiatives to learn to improve literacy, train life skills, and provide non-formal education in Community Learning Centers.
