The Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (TLNCU) is an orgaun autónomu, established under the decree-law number 35/2023 of May 31. Under the mandate of the IX Government of the Constitution of the (TLNCU) under the Ministry of Education, the mandate of the TLNCU is to implement the same programs: education, science, information communication, and culture. In the new constitutional government of RDTL, the (TLNCU) is under the Ministry of Education.
The annual promotion activity of UNESCO 2023 is an activity that is always carried out once a year (1) to report the activities that have been carried out in 2023 and to report the activity plan of (TLNCU) 2024. The main activities at the 2023 annual promotion event are the same as the quiz for students from the 3rd grade junior high school, seminar, science and mathematics exposure in some practices, book and photo exposure, as well as the practical competition in science for students. There are also extra activities, such as a concert by local artist Tony Pereira to entertain. The annual promotion, which began in 2012 and was first done in the municipality of Manatuto, continues until this year and will continue to be continued for the municipalities that have not yet been promoted. This event supports funding from UNESCO Paris and the Ministry of Education through (TLNCU).
The event for the annual promotion of UNESCO 2023 under the theme Hariku Koñesimentu ho Programa UNESCO nian is to share information about the programs that TLNCU has been implementing during the early years, such as the Education, Science, Culture, and Communication program. These programs themselves involve the Ministry and the State Secretariat relevant to the TLNCU program, such as the Ministry of Education and the Secretariat of State for Arts and Culture.
The National Director of Education of the municipality of Viqueque, Mr. Domingos Brandao, said that I am very proud and happy that many national programs have been selected in Viqueque as the annual promotion program of UNESCO in 2023. I am very grateful for the (TLNCU) program as a syntific, educational, scientific, and technological activity, and therefore I have the initiative to participate in this event, and I ask the students to follow it well and seriously so that they can take the name of the Viqueque and motivate the (TLNCU) to come to another program in Viqueque and not forget to thank the students for participating in the school, but the events are well completed.
The annual promotion objective is to increase community knowledge of the work of the Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (TLNCU) in all areas, to expand information on the implementation of the Education, Science, Culture, and Communication and Information programs, to attract teachers and students to learn and practice science in everyday life when they have completed their studies in secondary education, so that the community, especially young people, can be well aware of their culture, as well as develop their culture as their identity, to increase community knowledge of the Ministry of Education work, To learn more about the Community Service in the Secretariat of State for Arts and Culture in relation to the culture of Uma Lisan and local languages, the community can be encouraged to be more friendly.
The participants were the Executive Secretary (TLNCU), the National Director of Education of the municipality of Viqueque, the administrative representative of the municipality of Viqueque, the Commander-General of PNTL Viqueque, the local authority of the village chief, Diretór Sentru Juventude, Grupu foin sae humanista Timor-Leste(FHTL), Grupu kultura karavana, Iskuter, grupu fosca, grupu akolitus, grupu kultura babalotu uma wain kraik naiboru, teachers and the students from Viqueque of EB 01, EB 02 kabira oan, eskola Káfe, ESG 4 de Setembru, ESG Kalisahe, ESG katolika Santo Estevão and the communities as well as local singer Tony Pereira.
