The Ministry of Education, through the Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO (TLNCU) Science Division team, every year always celebrates World Science and Mathematics Day, which are also celebrated in the international world on November 10. This commemoration has been held for the 12th time. This year the commemoration of World Science and Mathematics Day was held for three days from 01 to 03 December in Maubisse Rabilau EBC Rimori.

his World Science and Mathematics Day Commemoration Activity received maximum support from Santos Company, which every year always supports and helps the World Science and Mathematics Day Commemoration event.

Activities in this commemoration include an exhibition of students and practical activities in science and mathematics by student groups and groups of winners who participated in the writing and practice competition. In addition, prizes and materials were distributed to the winners who participated in the competition.

This event is considered to play a significant role in promoting science to the global community. In addition, it also introduces to the community some important roles of scientific research related to leadership decisions. Therefore, the commemoration of World Science Day (WDS) is a good opportunity to involve the community and academics to discuss and debate in public some scientific issues related to global problems. The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Global Science for Global Well-being.”

Representative of Country Director Santos, Mrs. Reinalda said she feels happy and proud because the donation that we gave results showed that some students to teachers want to teach students so they know this is Santos’ objective and his presence in the community; today’s activity can give young people the opportunity to learn so they can explore themselves so they can prepare for the future to compete in the workplace; this is a good preparation phase. Once again, feel very proud of the activity of World Science and Mathematics Day, and do not forget to express appreciation and congratulations to the Timor-Leste National Commission for the UNESCO Sesim team, who worked very hard for this event, and congratulations also to the teacher, students, and communities that participated in this activity.

The objective of this activity is to promote science and mathematics as significant areas for students to consider in the future, collaborate to identify problems related to environmental problems, public health, food security, and economic development in the community and school to offer solutions, and to raise the interest of teachers and students to do research and use applications technology to enrich students’ critical thinking for a better Timor-Leste.

Participants from the level of basic education cycle 3, secondary, university, and teachers who teach in the area of natural sciences and mathematics and guests from the Ministry of Education and relevant institutions.
